The NGOs in Extractive Industry Group (NEIG) is a strategic coalition of civil society organizations (CSOs) dedicated promoting transparency, accountability, and inclusivity within Nigeria's extractive sector.  The genesis of the NGOs in Extractive Industry Group (NEIG) can be traced back to 2020, a moment marked by growing concerns surrounding the socio-economic and environmental impacts of extractive activities in Nigeria. Against the backdrop of escalating challenges faced by communities affected by extractive operations, NEIG was conceptualized as a proactive response to address these pressing issues.

Our Approach to Civil Society Mobilization

Capacity Building

NEIG conducts capacity-building workshops, training sessions, and knowledgesharing initiatives to enhance the knowledge, skills, and capabilities of CSOs on extractive sector administration, advocacy, and engagement. By equipping CSOs with the tools and resources they need to effectively engage in resource administration, NEIG strengthens their capacity to advocate for transparency, accountability, and sustainable development.

Facilitating Dialogue and Collaboration

NEIG fosters dialogue and collaboration among civil society organizations, communities, government agencies, and industry players, providing platforms for constructive engagement, information exchange, and collective action. Through roundtable discussions, forums, and working groups, NEIG facilitates dialogue on critical issues, identifies common goals and objectives, and promotes collaboration to address shared challenges.

Advocacy and Campaigns

NEIG advocates for policy reforms, legislative changes, and institutional improvements to strengthen administration frameworks and promote transparency, accountability, and sustainable development within the extractive sector.
